Pancit, LumpiaTuron Showcased at Int’l Christmas Bazaar in Athens

ATHENS 16 December 2019 –– The Philippine Embassy in Athens, led by Chargé d’Affaires Rosario P. Lemque, a.i., participated in the 20th Friends of the Child (FOC) Charity Association International Christmas Bazaar held on 23-24 November 2019, at the HELEXPO Maroussi in Athens.

The Embassy sold pancit bihon (rice noodles with  sautéed chicken, carrots, cabbage and green beans), lumpia (fried spring rolls filled with cabbage, carrots, and bean sprouts), turon (fried rolled bananas with jackfruit and sesame seed), salabat (fresh ginger tea sweetened with honey), banana chips, caramel popcorn and polvoron (shortbread made of flour, sugar and butter) during the event.

The bazaar is hosted annually by the FOC to support its kindergarten school in Metaxourgeio, Athens, and its other charity projects.

Staff members of the Embassy manning the booth likewise wore orange t-shirts printed with “VAW Free Community Starts with ME” in observance of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women.

The event was attended by other diplomatic missions, most notably, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ (ASEAN) Embassies of Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, the Consulate of Malaysia, the United States Embassy, the British Embassy, and the Italian Embassy, etc. END
