BUENOS AIRES 16 December 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires joined the global campaign to end Violence Against Women (VAW) by organizing a briefing for the members of the Filipino community in Argentina at the Philippine Embassy Chancery on 02 December 2019.
The Philippine Embassy’s Gender and Development Focal Point Officer Lizabeth Heath-Mounsey welcomed the participants composed of 37 members of the Filipino community and Embassy personnel.
Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires First Secretary and Consul Jason Jovencio A. Anasarias, in his remarks, reminded the members of the Filipino community that VAW is never an acceptable behavior and that the members of the Filipino community should be empowered to know their rights.
A video presentation featuring the 2019 “18-day campaign to end VAW” was shown, which enabled viewers to know more about the campaign objective and to gather information on what to do, where to go, and whom to see in case VAW happens.
The anti-VAW campaign aimed to bring back the value of respect for the dignity of women and their rights to liberty, safety, and security.
The Embassy hosted a brunch for briefing participants after the activity. END
