PH Embassy in Bahrain Joins Worlwide Celebration of Int’l Women’s Day

MANAMA 11 March 2020 – The Philippine Embassy in Manama joins the worldwide celebration of International Women’s Day by implementing the Serbisyo Para Kay Juana program wherein a special lane at the consular section of the Embassy was made available exclusively for women passport applicants on 08 March 2020.
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Bahrain also provided its clients of free hygiene kits throughout the day to mark the celebration.
The Serbisyo Para kay Juana lane was able to process and accept a total of 36 applications for passport renewal during the day. Now on its fourth year, the successful staging of Serbisyo Para Kay Juana project as a means of raising awareness on gender issues among Embassy clients has been noteworthy as women clients served during the day were elated of the gesture that made them feel value.
The Embassy also distributed pamphlets of the Magna Carta of Women to its female clients after their transactions.
As part of the “Purple Friday” campaign, Embassy personnel headed by Philippine Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver kicked-off Women’s Month celebration by wearing purple tops or shirts during its First Friday services on 06 March 2020 in support of efforts in advancing women’s rights and gender equality. END
