DFA Consular Office in General Santos City Celebrates 2020 Women’s Month

GENERAL SANTOS CITY 13 March 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office in General Santos joins the nation in celebrating the 2020 National Women’s Month on 10 March 2020 at the Robinsons Mall Atrium in General Santos City.

A local government unit (LGU)-initiated affair to honor the extraordinary strength, passion, and wisdom of women was attended by the Consular Office in General Santos as well as by empowered women from the LGU, Philippine National Police (PNP), Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). Messages of support were delivered by women leaders such as City Councilor Honorable Lourdes F. Casabuena and the City’s First Lady and Chairperson of the City Tourism Council Jane G. Rivera.

The three-hour activity highlighted various talent performances by women of different backgrounds and places. Wellness booths such as Family Planning Consulation, Body Mass Index (BMI) assessment, massage, manicure, and pedicure were also emplaced for the women attendees.

The Consular Office also undertakes several other activities such as display of information poster, audio visual presentations and implementation of “Purple Fridays” as a testament of its commitment to advancing women’s rights, empowerment and gender quality. END
