TACLOBAN CITY 30 March 2021 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Consular Office (CO) in Tacloban conducted activities in celebration of the 17th Women with Disabilities Day (WDD) on 29 March 2021.
In line with this year’s theme “Women with Disabilities in Leadership: Achieving an Equal Future in a COVID-19 World” (“Kababaihang Maykapansanan sa Larangan ng Pamumuno: Pagkamit ng Pantay na Kinabukasan sa Mundong may COVID-19”), CO staff attended an online forum on Financial Literacy, which highlighted the importance of financial knowledge and skills to women with disabilities as they face an additional layer of discrimination and have fewer employment opportunities.
In an effort to raise awareness of the celebration, the CO hung streamers designed by the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and displayed a gallery of Outstanding Filipinas with Disabilities at the CO’s conspicuous areas. END
