DFA Consular Office in Butuan Celebrates World Day Against Trafficking (WDAT) 2021

BUTUAN CITY 30 July 2021 — The DFA Consular Office (CO) in Butuan joins the celebration of the World Day Against Trafficking, with the theme, “Isang Bayan, Isang Paninindigan, Laban sa Trafficking ng Mamamayan.”

An active member agency of the Regional Inter-Agency Committee Against Trafficking- Violence Against Women and their Children (RIACAT-VAWC Caraga), CO Butuan took part on various activities to raise awareness in fighting modern-day slavery and human exploitation.

Conducted every Wednesday of July, CO Butuan joined an online discussion with Advocates against Trafficking in Persons - facilitated by the DSWD FO Caraga, International Justice Mission (IJM) FO Cebu, Commission on Human Rights RO XIII and Justice, Peace & Integrity of Creation- Integrated Development Center, Inc. (JPIC-IDC, Inc.). The online discussions were joined together with advocates, trained student advocates, partner line agencies, law enforcement, social workers and LGUs who showcased their sustained practices and intervention in gearing towards addressing trafficking in persons.

CO Butuan partook the Blue Heart Campaign—the international symbol against human trafficking, the Blue Heart represents the sadness of the victims and reminding us the cold-heartedness of those who operate the heinous crimes. To join initiatives in raising global awareness to fight human trafficking and its impact on society, CO’s Gender and Development (GAD) Section also initiated the office’s own WDAT 2021 virtual activity on 30 July 2021. During the activity, the GAD team presented the DFA’s Infomercial on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons from its DFA’s youtube account.

CO Butuan also participated in the Virtual Launching of the IACAT Anti-Trafficking In Persons Knowledge Products, the IACAT launches materials as part of IACATs collective responsibility to educate the public of issues and concerns in mitigating impending risks of trafficking.

CO Butuan also joined in the Caraga Panagtapok cum Culmination Activity conducted by the RIACAT-VAWC Caraga, the RIACAT-VAWC through its panelists discussed and shared the four Key Result Areas (KRA) of the committee performed and practiced by the discussants in their respective offices/agencies.
