23 June 2015 – A young Filipina pianist, Ma. Regina Montesclaros, drew a full house on June 09 at Las Condes Municipal Theater in Santiago, Chile.
The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, classical music enthusiasts and members of the Filipino community.
The concert, organized in collaboration with the Universidad Mayor Conservatory of Music, kicked off the celebration of the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence in Chile.
Ms. Montesclaros won several competitions both in the Philippines and abroad, such as: Piano Teachers Guild of the Philippines (PTGP) Beethoven Concerto Competition, Category C (July 2010) and Mozart Concerto Competition, Category B (November 2006); NAMCYA, Category A-2 (November 2004); Rosario Picazo Competition (June 2004); and Miriam College Center for Applied Music Competition for Young Artists, Category A (2005); as well as winning the gold prize at the International Piano Academy Festival and Competition at Cheonan, South Korea; silver at the 1st International Piano Competition in Hanoi, Vietnam, and bronze in the Concerto B Category; and being the sole winner at the 4th International Chopin Piano Competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ms. Montesclaros is presently undertaking further studies at the Royal College of Music in London. She is one of the 10 international artists featured for the Temporada International 2015 by the Universidad Mayor Conservatory of Music. END
