5 March 2014 - Members of the Filipino community in Singapore commemorated the 28th Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution during their regular meeting on February 22, at the Philippine Embassy.
The simple event was highlighted by a rendition of the popular "Handong ng Pilipino sa Mundo" by the Philippine Embassy Choir to an audience of more than 100 members of the Filipino community. The members of the Group were attired to portray those represented in the historic event of February 1986.
The performance was followed by a video presentation showing the events that unfolded during the largely peaceful democratic transition of the Philippines from autocratic rule. The clip also presented the relevant question on how the EDSA revolution should continue to live in the Filipino spirit.
Praising the Embassy for the choral rendition, some members of the Filipino community said that while the celebration was simple, it help ensure that EDSA remains relevant as its ideals still evoke fervor for freedom and liberty among Filipinos overseas. END
