Update on Eruption of Mount Soputan

04 October 2018 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has been informed that the Filipino national near Mount Soputan in northern Sulawesi, Indonesia, has been contacted.

The Philippine Consulate General in Manado reported to Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano that its retired employee and his family are safe.

According to Consul General Oscar Orcine, the Filipino, who is the only Filipino living near the volcano, told him there were tremors prior to the eruption but otherwise he, his wife, and son are all right. He expressed appreciation that the Consulate General exerted efforts to check on him. END
