On the Death of a Filipino in Canada
26 August 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary, is assisting in the repatriation of the remains of a Filipino who passed away in Lake Snye in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada after saving a friend on 23 August 2019. Consul General to Calgary Zaldy Patron reported that the Filipino was with his friends at the lake. After saving the lives of his friends, he drowned in the lake. The Consulate General is coordinating with Canadian authorities and his family in the Philippines for the repatriation of his remains. The Department also extends its condolences to the Filipino's family. Consul General Patron said that the Consulate General is monitoring developments and is ready to provide appropriate assistance.
