On the Road Accident involving 19 Filipinos in Italy

22 October 2019 — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), through the Philippine Embassy in Rome, is closely monitoring the condition of 19 Filipinos who figured in a road accident involving a public transportation vehicle in Via Cassia, north of Rome on 16 October 2019.

Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Candy S. Cypres-Bauzon reported that the Embassy was able to identify and obtain the contact details of the 19 injured Filipinos. Nine were interviewed, all of whom said have received immediate medical attention. They also claimed to have suffered muscle trauma. Three of them sustained wounds on the forehead while two had fractures on their shoulder and leg. According to doctors who evaluated the Filipinos, no one was critically injured.

The Embassy will continue to coordinate with Italian authorities as conduct of investigation to determine the cause of the accident is still in progress. Latest updates will be provided, once they become available. The Embassy stands ready to provide the necessary assistance to the Filipinos. END
