Bulletin: On the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship Docked in Yokohama, Japan

07 February 2020 — The Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo, informs the public that as of today, 07 February 2020, the Japanese Ministry of Health said another group of 41 people onboard the Diamond Princess tested positive for nCoV. These include 21 Japanese nationals and 20 foreigners.

No Filipinos are included in this group of 41. As of this time, only one Filipino onboard the ship has tested positive for the virus, and is now in hospital undergoing treatment.

The Japanese Health Ministry confirmed in a press conference today that all 273 suspected cases onboard have already been tested.  The Ministry also stated that the ship will remain under the mandatory 14-day quarantine period until February 19. 

The Philippine Embassy is currently working with both Philippine and Japanese Government agencies to provide assistance to all Filipinos onboard the cruise ship.  END
