Travel Advisory on Non-Essential Travel to Israel

TEL AVIV 24 May 2024 – In view of the volatile security situation in the Middle East, the Department of Foreign Affairs reiterates its reminder to the traveling public to postpone all non-essential travel to Israel, Palestine, and nearby countries under Alert Level 2 or higher.

Non-essential travels include tourism visits, pilgrimages, temporary stays with relatives and friends, volunteer work, sports events, entertainment and similar activities.  THESE are discouraged NOW and could be considered at a later date.

Essential travels include official travels of government officials, official business delegations duly vetted by the DTI and other government agencies, as well as participation in conferences, seminars, educational activities, scholarship programs and courses sponsored by MASHAV and other Israeli government agencies.  Also included are travels of religious missionaries assigned in Israel.

There is no new deployment of OFWs to Israel. Therefore, please be careful of offers by individuals, organizations, employers, or tour companies organizing tour packages, visits and pilgrimages to, or recruiters promising employment in, restive countries in the Middle East region. END
