12 December 2013 – Philippine Consul General to Jeddah Uriel Norman R. Garibay led the officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General, including the attached agencies, and their spouses, in the flag retreat ceremony on Thursday, November 28 held at the Consulate General’s rooftop to celebrate the sesquicentennial birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio on November 30.

After the flag retreat ceremony, the attendees numbering around 50, moved to the Consulate Hall for the continuation of the ceremony. Consul General Garibay delivered his inspirational remarks wherein he noted the relevant highlights on the life story of Andres Bonifacio, and the latter’s thirsts for knowledge. He also  mentioned that the founder and supreme leader of the Katipunan’s love for his country and countrymen has become an inspiration to all Filipinos.  It was followed by a short audiovisual presentation and reading of the chronology of the life and times  of Andres Bonifacio by some personnel from the Labor section.

The short ceremony was followed by a program to recognize the 12 awardees of the 2013 Loyalty and outstanding employee awards; welcome the newly arrived personnel and bid farewell to outgoing personnel. 

Consul General Garibay also presented certificates of appreciation to seven (7) Temporary Local Staff in recognition of their dedicated service and commendable performance from May 14 to November 28, 2013 during the operations undertaken by the Consulate for the repatriation and rectification of work status of Filipinos.   Likewise, a certificate of appreciation were also distributed to five (5) spouses and dependents of Consulate staff in grateful recognition of their invaluable support and assistance as volunteers during the said operations. 

The activity ended with a simple Filipino dinner prepared by the Consulate. END.
