Chicago  Chicago Mayor signs book of condolence218 November 2013 - Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel paid a visit to the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago on November 15 to offer his sympathies for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and to sign the condolence book.  He wrote: “The City of Chicago’s thoughts and prayers are with you and will be by your side for as many tomorrows as it takes to rebuild your country.”

Mayor Emmanuel, who just arrived from a visit to Mexico, went directly to the Consulate General straight from the airport.  He extended his sympathies, as well as that of the people of Chicago, to Consul General Leo Herrera-Lim. 

Mayor Emmanuel then met the officers and staff of the Consulate General and was briefed my Consul General Lim on the extent of the damage caused by Yolanda in the Philippines. END
