Prague book of condolence

21 November 2013-The Philippine Embassy in Prague opened the book of condolences for the victims of the Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and received members of the Diplomatic Corps on November 14 and 15 at the Chancery.  Ambassadors and representatives of 47 embassies based in Prague signed the book of condolences and expressed their sympathies and solidarity with the Philippines and the Filipino people.


Czech Foreign Ministry Director-General Václav Bálek and Director Hana Mottlová of the Asia-Pacific Department signed the book of condolences for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) on November 15 and gave the letter of condolences of Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kohout to Philippine Embassy Charge d’Affaires, a.i. (CDA) Juan E. Dayang, Jr.


In his letter, Foreign Minister Kohout wrote that “the government and people of the Czech Republic fully sympathize with the families of the victims and all those who have lost their homes” and that the “solidarity of the Czech government and the public has been reflected in the various forms of assistance to the people and regional institutions in the areas recovering from this extreme natural disaster”.

Foreign Minister Kohout on November 12 approved emergency humanitarian assistance worth 8.6 million pesos while public collection has reached more than 40 million pesos in humanitarian assistance for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the Philippines.

CDA Dayang thanked Foreign Ministry Director-General Bálek for his visit and said that “the Filipino people are grateful for the outpouring of support extended by the Czech government and the spontaneous generosity of Czech citizens, which signify the strong bilateral relations between the Philippines and the Czech Republic”.
