21 November 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General in Chicago has conveyed its gratitude to the Northern Trust Corporation for its support to relief efforts in the Philippines in the aftermath of super typhoon Haiyan.
Northern Trust announced in its website that it has designated $150,000 to the relief efforts through the American Red Cross, and has committed to match employee donations worldwide to further increase its contribution.
Northern Trust Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Frederick H. Waddell expressed sadness over the tragedy, as well as his hope that the company’s financial support “will contribute to bringing assistance as quickly as possible to the survivors in the wake of this disaster”.
Consul General Leo M. Herrera-Lim thanked Northern Trust in a letter to Mr. Waddell, stating that the company’s “contribution will go a long way in helping our nation as we begin the daunting task of recovery and rebuilding.”
