22 November 2013 - The Filipino Community in Hong Kong launched a month-long relief drive onNovember 11 during the coordination meeting held at the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) which hit the Visayas region on November 8 and 9.
A helpdesk manned by Ms. Leonida Longcanaya has been set up to provide assistance to Filipinos in Hong Kong who would like to trace the whereabouts of their relatives. Other inquiries such as details of cash and in-kind donations can also be directed to Ms. Longcanaya at telephone number 2823.8506 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Consulate General’s hotline 9155.4023 can also receive queries from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.
The list of survivors in Tacloban, Leyte, courtesy of Congressman Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, was also posted at the Consulate Lobby and its Facebook page (Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong) in case the Filipino community would like to check their relatives’ whereabouts in the said town. Condolence books were also opened at the PCG Lobby to enable the Filipino community and the general public to sign their messages of condolences. END
