LAOPDR122 Novemebr 2013 - Lao Deputy Foreign Minister Sounthone Xayachack signed the condolence book for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the Philippines on November 20, accompanied by other Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials.

In her message, Deputy Foreign Minister Xayachack conveyed the following: 

“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Lao PDR, I would like to express my deep sympathy to the Government and to the people of the Philippines, particularly to the families of this natural disaster’s victims.

I am confident that the Government and the people of the Philippines, with the cooperation and assistance of the international community, will be able to overcome this natural disaster caused by typhoon Haiyan and restore the calamity area to normalcy soon.” 

Deputy Foreign Minister Xayachack thereafter presented a cheque in the amount of US$50,000 representing the Government of Lao PDR’s grant of relief aid to the typhoon victims.

Ambassador Isleta conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for the Lao Government's meaningful and generous support during this difficult time.  She also expressed appreciation for the Lao business community’s show of support and the many expressions and gesturers of sympathy and solidarity from all quarters.  She emphasized that the Philippines and the Filipino people draw comfort and strength form all these.
