25 November 2013 - The Government of Indonesia donated US$ 2 million in cash and in kind for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).  In response to the loss of life and devastation caused by the typhoon, Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono personally directed the Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Chief of the Armed Forces and the Head of the National Agency for Disaster Management to mobilize and coordinate humanitarian assistance from Indonesia. 

In a turnover ceremony held on November 12, Minister Agung Laksono, Coordinating Minister for People’s Welfare, handed over a check in the amount of 11,510,000,000 Indonesian rupiah, equivalent to US$ 1 Million, to Ambassador Maria Rosario Aguinaldo.  In addition, aid worth US$ 1 million in goods was sent through several C-130 aircraft assigned by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense.  The cargo contained food, clothes, blankets, medicine, and electricity generators.

During the turnover ceremony, Ambassador Aguinaldo expressed her gratitude, on behalf of the Philippine government and the Filipino people, for Indonesia’s overwhelming generosity and immediate assistance for the victims of the typhoon.  END
