25 November 2013 - Noted Concert Pianist Albert Tiu and friends and students from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music held a benefit concert for those affected by typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) on November 21, at the National University of Singapore’s Yong Siew Toh Conservatory Concert Hall.
Featuring eight works from the personal compositions of Albert Tiu, and other composers such Handel, Dvorak, Saint-Saëns, Ysaye and young Filipino composer Joshua Pangilinan among others, the audience was riveted by one hour of good classical music from the very best of the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (YSTCM).
Prior to the end of the program, Bernard Lanskey, Director of YSTCM and Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Minda Cruz thanked the audience for their generosity and opening up their hearts for those affected by typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
The concert was co-organized with the Kris Foundation. Proceeds from the concert totaled over 27,000.00 Singapore dollars which was turned over to the Singapore Red Cross and the Philippine Bayanihan Society (Singapore) which will turn it over to the Philippine Red Cross. END
