26 November 2013 - A seven-member delegation of the Myanmar Defense Services led by Major General Hla Shwe, Vice-Adjutant General, Office of the Adjutant General, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, embarked on a humanitarian mission from Yangon to Manila to airlift about seven tons of relief assistance for the survivors of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), via a Myanmar Airways International chartered flight at 8:00 am of November 24 at the Yangon International Airport.
The delegation touched down at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at about 1:10 pm on November 24 and returned to Yangon on the same day.
The Myanmar Defense Services has joined the international community in extending aid to the Philippine government’s relief and rehabilitation efforts for the victims of the typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), one of the strongest typhoons that ever made landfall in world history.
Myanmar Ambassador to the Philippines U Ye Myint Aung, Philippine Air Force Vice Commander, Major General Wilfredo O. Ona and AFP Spokesperson, Major General Domingo J. Tutaan, representing Joint Task Force (JTF) Yolanda, as well as officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development were at the NAIA to welcome the Myanmar delegation. END
