26 November 2013 – The National Assembly of Quebec passed a Resolution supporting the Filipino people in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) reading as follows (from the original text in French):

“That the National Assembly affirms its solidarity with the Filipino people and with all Quebec citizens from the Philippines following the tragedy caused by the passage of Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda).”

That it expresses its deepest sympathy to the families who have lost loved ones or who are still without news from some of them.”

The resolution was conveyed in a letter to Philippine Ambassador Leslie Gatan by Assembly Speaker Jacques Chagnon.

Ambassador Gatan expressed his appreciation for the resolution noting that such expressions of solidarity from Canada truly extend from all levels in Canadian society.  Ambassador Gatan conveys his appreciation for the kind gesture from the people and the National Assembly of Quebec.  END
