27 November 2013 – The Honorable Kathleen Wynne, Premiere of Ontario, signed the Book of Condolences for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) at her office in Toronto on November 18, as she received Ambassador Leslie Gatan and his delegation at the Legislative Building in the city.

Premiere Wynne further expressed her condolences to the Ambassador saying that the Philippines has “gone through and is still going through a very difficult time.”

Premiere Wynne spoke of the ensuing medium- to long-term need for social and psychological support among the injured and survivors.

Earlier, the Premiere called on Ontarians to donate to the relief effort through the Canadian Red Cross.  She expressed how “saddened” she was “to see the devastation left behind by typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.”

The Premiere said that “my heart is with the people of the Philippines, their friends and families across Ontario, and everyone affected around the world.”  END
