Chicago telethon

29 November 2013 –Philippine Consul General in Chicago Leo Herrera-Lim joined CBS 2/WBBM-TV in their day-long telethon with the American Red Cross on November 26 to raise money for relief to the Philippine typhoon and Illinois tornado victims.  The telethon is a station-wide effort to raise awareness of the disasters and to give their viewers a way to help.

The telethon raised over $2.1 million, including $1.532 million for disaster relief in the Philippines.  Among the biggest donors are United Airlines with US$1.193 million; Motorola Solutions Foundation with US$125,000; and WW Grainger Inc with U$25,000.  All donations were to the American Red Cross for the benefit of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) victims in the Philippines.

Consul General Herrera-Lim joined the CBS 2 anchors and provided the latest updates on the situation in the Philippines. END
