29 November 2013 – Miss World Megan Young joined the Filipino-American and business community in New York last November 19 to raise funds for the victims of typhoon Yolanda that hit her home country earlier this month. 


In cooperation with the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce (PACC), the Philippine Consulate Generalin New York invited about 70 guests to a simple welcome celebration at the Philippine Residence in honor of the Filipina beauty queen with the aim to make a significant donation to the victims of the recent typhoon through Beauty With A Purpose, the charity organization of Miss World. 


The community was able to pool together US$ 7,000 for the relief operations of the disaster-struck areas in the Philippines.  The proceeds were handed to the Philippine National Red Cross when Megan returned to the Philippines on November 27.  END
