03 December 2013 - A group of seventh- and eighth-grade foreign students of the Shanghai High School International Division came to the Philippine Consulate General in Shanghai on November 26 to turnover RMB 35,575.00 (equivalent to P249,985.53) that they were able to raise as donation for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan).
Consul General Charles C. Jose warmly received the group. He commended them for their initiative in undertaking a fundraising activity to help the typhoon victims. He also praised the young students for having compassion, generosity and civic-mindedness even at a very young age.
According to their leader, eighth grader Chloe Tan from Singapore, they were able to raise the funds by holding a one-day, school-wide sale of various items, including baked goodies.
The Consulate assisted the students in remitting the funds to the Philippine Red Cross.
Consul General Jose sincerely thanked the students for their donation and assured them that the funds would go a long way towards helping the unfortunate victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). END
