04 December 2013 - In support for the relief and rehabilitation efforts for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), the personnel of the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong gave voluntary contributions in the total amount of Php110,301.00. The funds were remitted to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and the Philippine Red Cross on November 13 and 28, respectively. The Consulate has opted to forego its annual Christmas gift exchange to be able to assist in the typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) relief drive through the said donations.
The Philippine Consulate in Hongkong also launched Pilipinas….Kaya Natin ‘To, a month-long typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) relief drive in partnership with the Filipino community in Hong Kong on November 11. The initiative is aimed at providing updates to the Filipino and Hong Kong communities on the relief and rehabilitation efforts, as well as coordinating donations, fundraising/community events and other projects in Hong Kong for the typhoon victims.
As of November 28, The Consulate General has recorded at total of HK$736,964.15 (Php4,053,302.83) in cash donations from various donors in Hong Kong. END
