04 December 2013 - Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Minda Calaguian-Cruz reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that Dr. Tor Lam Huat, founder and CEO of L.D. Waxson(s) Pte. Ltd., a pioneer manufacturer of beauty and body care products in Singapore, has initiated a fund-drive for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) on the occasion of his 75th birthday celebration held at the Orchard Mandarin last Monday, November 25.

A well-known businessman, Dr. Huat is equally recognized for his philanthropic activities that includes support to local and international charitable organizations. He is also widely known for his passion in promoting “Confucian” principles in business.

During his birthday party, Dr. Huat allotted the cash gifts of his guests who included known Singaporean officials and businessmen, and the sales of his book on “Modern Confucianism” for the relief effort. His initiative generated a total amount of Singaporean $82,022.00.

Ambassador Calaguian-Cruz congratulated Dr. Huat for another milestone in life and wished him more years of good health and more success in business and have the opportunity to pursue his philanthropic activities. END
