yangon Donation for Yolanda

12 December 2013 - The United Nations Staff Associations in Myanmar handed over US$ 4,756 to the Philippine Embassy in Yangon on December 03 as donation for the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda. Mr. Nyi Nyi Aung of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the coordinator of the group, gave the cash donation to Ms. Maria Lourdes M. Salcedo, the Embassy’s Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. The total amount was received from the personal contributions of UN Agencies personnel based in Myanmar.


The group expressed their deep sympathy to the Philippines through the Embassy for the devastation and damages caused by the typhoon in the lives and properties of millions of Filipinos.


Ms. Salcedo expressed gratitude for the generous donation, noting that Myanmar has stood by the Philippines with Myanmar’s government and the private sector extending considerable humanitarian assistance.
