18 December 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, led by Consul John Reyes conducted a three-day consular outreach program from December 6 to 8 at the West Oaks Plaza in Houston, Texas.
The consular outreach program was undertaken in cooperation with the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Texas (PACC Texas) under the leadership of Ms. Ethel Mercado, State President, and Atty. Gary Ilagan, PACC Texas Regional Chair.
A total of 844 consular services were rendered during the consular outreach program, breakdown of which are as follows:

Consul Reyes was accompanied by Misses Mel Melchora Tagle and Merle Ordillano and Messrs. Bernardino Concepcion, Edmund Gidaya and Amor Ibañez.
The Consular Outreach Program is a regular activity of the Consulate to bring its various services closer to its constituents residing in areas within its jurisdiction.
Consul Reyes was also invited to a meeting with Congressman Al Green and was informed that the Vietnamese community in Houston donated US$300,000 to the American Red Cross for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), often stressing its gratitude to the Philippines for providing Vietnamese people refuge in the past.
On December 8, Vietnamese Community Leader Teresa Hoang donated US$18,585 to the foundation of the Philippine American chamber of Commerce, Houston, intended for the victims of typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan). END
