26 December 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General in Guam continues to receive generous donations for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in the Philippines this Christmas season.

 

From December 02 to 19, the Consulate has received monetary/check donations in the total amount of $16,873.70, from the following individuals, and groups/organizations in Guam:

The total amount has already been remitted by the Consulate to the bank accounts of the Philippine Red Cross and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

As of December 19, the Consulate has already collected and remitted a total amount of US$ 59,508.26 monetary donations from various individuals, groups or organizations.

 

On December 2, the United Chinese Association of Guam (UCAG) visited the Philippine Consulate General to turn over its generous donations to Consul General Bayani Mangibin. Present to witness the symbolic turn-over was Guam Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio; Director General Paul S. Wang, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO); and Mr. Emelio Uy, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Filipino Community of Guam (FCG). Consul General Mangibin conveyed his appreciation to UCAG for their kind and generous help for the typhoon victims. He noted that this kind support will indeed bring joy and hope for the typhoon victims this Christmas season, which they badly need.

Members of the Guam Photographers Group also handed over to the Consulate on December 6 its donations in the amount of US$1,773.04. The donation is being coursed through the Philippine Red Cross. The amount was taken from the proceeds of Guam Photographers Group “Pushing Buttons for Visayas,” a family photo fundraising event held on November 30 at the GPO shopping center for the benefit of the victims of typhoon Yolanda and the Bohol/Cebu earthquake.

On December 14, a symbolic check turn-over ceremony of the Guam Council International Reading Association was held at the Annual Community Book Fair  at Agana Shopping Center. Consul Auxilian thanked the IRA Guam Council on behalf of the typhoon victims, for their kind help and support.

On December 16, the officers and members of The Korean Women’s Association of Guam called on the Consulate to hand over their check donation amounting to US$1,000.00 for the Philippine Red Cross to Consul and Acting Head of Post Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian. END
