02 January 2014 - The Horizon International School in Myanmar, represented by its Principal Mr. Vugar Babayev, members of faculty and students, handed over US$ 10,700 to the Philippine Embassy in Myanmar on December 23, 2013 as donation for the survivors of Typhoon Yolanda. The cash donation was received by Ms. Maria Lourdes M. Salcedo, First Secretary and Consul of the Embassy.

The total amount was raised from the donation campaign organized by the students at the four campuses of Horizon International School in Myanmar. In their campaign, the students particularly cited the Cyclone Nargis in 2008 when the Philippines and other countries came to the assistance of Myanmar, and that this occasion is an opportunity for them to reciprocate that kind gesture.

Mr. Babayev shared that the activity was encouraged to promote the values of humanity and generosity to the students of Horizon, which supports the school’s focus on community immersion and social consciousness.

Ms. Salcedo expressed the Embassy’s gratitude and appreciation for the commendable initiative.

The donation was turned over to Ms. Leony Ramos of This email address is being protected from spambots.
