MANILA 28 November 2024 - In line with its Gender and Development (GAD)  Agenda, the Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Human Resources Management Office (HRMO), successfully conducted a Training on Gender-Fair Language and Communication on 18 to 20 November 2024. The training was delivered in two (2) formats: an online session for personnel in the Home Office, Consular Offices, and Foreign Service Posts, and a face-to-face session for personnel in the Office of Public Diplomacy (OPD), Office of Cultural Diplomacy (OCD), and HRMO.

The training is part of the DFA's continuing gender-mainstreaming efforts, which aim to reduce, if not eliminate, biases in communication. By focusing on the use of language, the training sought to ensure that communications within the organization do not perpetuate stereotypes and discrimination.

In his opening message, HRMO Assistant Secretary Christopher B. Montero encouraged the participants to rethink how they view gender and communication in their daily work. He also urged attendees to take active steps in promoting a gender-sensitive, inclusive, and equitable working environment within the organization. END
