Agana  EDSA1

27 February 2014 - The  Philippine Consulate General in Agana commemorated the 28th Anniversary of the EDSA “People Power” Revolution on February 25 with the theme: “Kapit-Bisig Tungo sa Pagbangon”. 

The celebration started with a Flag Raising ceremony attended by some Guam officials, Guam Consular Corps and the representatives of the Filipino community. The singing of the Philippine National Anthem was led by the Consulate’s Property Officer, Ms. Maelani Revilla, with Consular Assistant Ms. Margie Morales and Guam Filipino Artists Vice President Mr. Rolly Zepeda hoisting the Philippine flag.  It was followed by a short program at the Consular area where a small exhibit on the EDSA “People Power” Revolution is being displayed. Consul General Bayani V. Mangibin delivered a short remark emphasizing the theme of the 28th Anniversary of the EDSA Revolution. 

After the short program, all guests were invited to the Filipino traditional breakfast at the Consulate and while the guests were enjoying the breakfast the three video documentaries entitled “EDSA: The World Remembers”, “Ninoy: The Heart and the Soul” and “Puso at Diwa ni Ninoy” were played.

The event was attended by Senators Frank B. Aguon, Jr. and Tina Muña Barnes of the 32nd Guam Legislature, Philippine Honorary Consul to the Federated States of Micronesia, Dr. Merlynn Abello-Alfonso, Consul General Jeff Kenty of Palau, Consul General Robert Ruecho of the Federated States of Micronesia, Agency for Human Resources Development Director Alfredo Antolin, Guam Environmental Protection Agency Director Eric Palacios, presidents and members of the Filipino associations in Guam, members of the business community, media friends as well as  the team from the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs headed by Senior Special Assistant Belinda Ante who are here in Guam for an official trip.
