10 March 2014 -The Philippine Embassy in Tripoli commemorated the 28th Anniversary of EDSA Revolution on February 27 with some members of the Filipino community at the Chancery. A special mass was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Celso Larracas, OFM.
Ambassador Oscar Orcine in his message discussed the visible and intangible symbols of EDSA, the tyranny and oppression during the Marcos regime and the confluence of events that led to the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution.
The Ambassador stressed that the EDSA Anniversary should not only remind the Filipino youth of the value of fighting for freedom but to ensure that they remain committed to the ideals of democracy, patriotism, unity and a vision for a great country.
A high school student of the Philippine Community School in Tripoli sang “Bayan Ko” as part of the program.
After the program, the Embassy shared a modest merienda with all the guests. END
