13 June 2014- The Filipino Community Organizing Committee (FCOC) hosted a Barrio Fiesta in commemoration of the 116th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 8, at the grounds of the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok.

A flag-raising ceremony was conducted at 9:30 a.m., followed by the reading of the messages of President Benigno S. Aquino III and Vice President Jejomar C. Binay.

Ambassador Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia delivered the opening remarks welcoming the guests to the Barrio Fiesta, and encouraging them to remain active members of the Filipino community. She also invited the community to visit and participate in the Philippine Fair being held at the Central World Mall in Bangkok from June 12 to 15.

Ms. Angie dela Rosa and Mr. Ding Eufemio, representatives of the FCOC, also delivered welcome and thanksgiving messages to the community. An exhibit featuring artworks of Filipino children was also held during the event.

The Consular Section also opened for guests qualified to register for Overseas Voting. END
