13 June 2014 - On the occasion of the 116th anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence, the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon, with the support of SOLIDERE, Le Yacht Club –Beirut at Zaitunay Bay and Bank of Beirut Finance Western Union, launched on June 07 the first-ever Philippine Art Exhibition in Lebanon, which featured the art works of Dublin-based Filipino painter Marvin Baldemor.  The exhibition at the Art Gallery of Le Yacht Club-Beirut, in Zaitunay Bay, runs from June 7 to 15.

Entitled “A Journey of Colors,” the exhibit features 38 paintings of Mr. Baldemor. Lebanon’s former former State Minister Mona Afeiche Choueiri cut the ceremonial ribbon with the assistance of Philippine Ambassador to Lebanon Leah M. Basinang-Ruiz, Mr. Alejandro Ricardo Ruiz and Mr. Baldemor.  The launching was also attended by members of the diplomatic and consular corps, Lebanese businessmen and private sector representatives, and members of the academe and the Filipino community in Lebanon.

Most of Mr. Baldemor’s paintings focused on themes depicting traditional life and rural scenes in the Philippines.  He also crafted Lebanese-inspired canvasses featuring the country’s landscapes and iconic sites. END
