19 June 2014 - Philippine Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, conveyed the sincere gratitude and appreciation of the Philippines for the solidarity and support extended by France during the spate of natural calamities that hit the country in 2013, during a reception to celebrate the 116th Proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 12 at her residence. Trade and Industry Secretary Gregory L. Domingo was the night’s special guest of honor.
In her remarks, Ambassador Lazaro also noted that despite the calamities, the Philippine economy remains one of the most dynamic in Asia.
For his part, Secretary Domingo underscored how the Philippines remains a resilient nation. He stressed that the country continues to strive for freedom from ignorance, from hunger and from poverty, and that with good governance, great strides have already been made in this respect.
More than 60 distinguished guests from the French government, business sector, and non-governmental organizations attended the intimate event held to commemorate Philippine independence and to celebrate strong Philippines-France relations. END
