02 July 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Berne commemorated the 116th anniversary of Philippine independence with a flag ceremony and Panunumpa sa Watawat ng Pilipinas at the Embassy Chancery. The messages of President Benigno Aquino III, Vice President Jejomar Binay and Foreign Secretary Albert F. del Rosario were read during the occasion.
On June 12, a reception was held at the Hotel Bellevue Palace in Berne. More than 200 guests from the Diplomatic Corps, officials from the Swiss government, the business community, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and leaders of various Filipino organizations attended the event.
Swiss President and Federal Councillor Didier Burkhalter also sent a congratulatory message to President Aquino extending his best wishes for the President and the Philippines. END
