16 June 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver took advantage of the Independence Day celebrations to promote and conduct overseas voters registration for overseas Filipinos during the 2015 Pista sa Slocan which was held at the Slocan Park in East Vancouver last June 06. Philippine Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer led the consular team during the festivities which included the raising of the Philippine flag, parade of various Filipino organizations and messages from Philippine and Canadian officials. 

The Consulate General also put up a registration booth during the 2015 Philippine Days Festival at the Waterfront Park in North Vancouver on June 14. Local residents and members of the Filipino community in North Vancouver and nearby areas showed up in big numbers during the annual picnic event to celebrate the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.

The Consulate General brought the spirit of the Independence Day celebrations to the Filipino crew of the M/S Coral Princess during a visit to the cruise ship last June 10. Consul Rogelio Villanueva Jr. relayed the greetings and message of President Benigno Aquino III and at the same time led the Consulate’s mobile team in registering the crew members for overseas voting.
