17 June 2015 – The Philippine Consulate General in Macau SAR celebrated the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence in a diplomatic reception held in Macau’s Clube Militar on June 12. Secretary for Administration and Justice Chan Hoi Fan was the guest of honor. In her remarks, Secretary Chan expressed Macau’s desire to continue strengthening existing partnerships with the Philippines and expand areas of cooperation for mutual benefit.

During her toast, Philippine Consul General Lilybeth R. Deapera emphasized the strengthening areas of cooperation between the Philippines and Macau in labor, cultural and trade relations. She also underscored the contributions of the 22,000 non-resident Filipino workers in various industries in Macau. Consul General Deapera also expressed her hopes for the continued strong relations between the Philippines and China, especially in view of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

After the official program, the Bisaya Dako (BISDAK) organization in Macau presented Tinikling and Karatong dances which were well-received by the attendees. The “Colors of Freedom” display was also prominently exhibited around the reception venue. END
