18 June 2015 – The Philippine Consulate General in Macau SAR celebrated the 20th Migrant Workers’ Day with members of the Filipino community on June14 at Escola S. Joao de Brito. The activity centered on the theme “Handog Sa Iyo OFW: Kalusugan at Karapatan, Tungo Sa Kaunlaran.” Around 170 Filipino community members attended the event. 

In her remarks, Philippine Consul General Lilybeth R. Deapera encouraged the community to save money and avail of government services from SSS, Pag-IBIG, and OWWA. She also expressed her appreciation for their hard work in Macau. Labor Attaché Vivian F. Tornea read the message of Philippine Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz, which highlighted the Philippine Government’s social contract with the Filipino people and the President’s commitment to transformational leadership.

The event started with a fitness class followed by a lecture on health and wellness which focused on occupational safety. Aside from the lecture and fitness sessions, Social Security System (SSS) registration, Home Development Mutual Fund/Pag-IBIG membership services, overseas voters registration, OWWA membership, and OEC application were also available during the affair. Free medical consultations were also held as well as Balik-Manggagawa (BM Online) registration and tutorials. END
