22 June 2015– The Philippine Embassy in Paris, together with the leaders of the Filipino community in France, commemorated the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with a flag raising ceremony at the Chancery.

Philippine Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa Lazaro shared President Benigno S. Aquino III’s message reminding Filipinos to “exercise the rights and freedom borne from the toil of our ancestors and contribute towards shaping a more proactive and mature discourse, perpetuating positive change to the broader spectrum of society.”

Minister and Consul General Deena Joy D. Amatong also conveyed the message of Philippine Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario who noted that this year’s celebration of Philippine Independence comes with renewed international confidence in the country’s potential not only as one of Asia’s growth engines but also in its emerging role as lead advocate in the region on the primacy of the rule of law.

To cap the simple but meaningful event, members of the Filipino community and Embassy personnel took the opportunity to discuss various issues of interest while enjoying a traditional Filipino breakfast. END
