24 June 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, successfully celebrated the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with a diplomatic reception on June 12.

The celebration was attended by the members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Thai public and private sectors, close friends and supporters of the Embassy, business contacts, members of the print and broadcast media and members of the Filipino community in Thailand.    

Guests were greeted with an exhibit of colorful photos of Philippine festivals along the hallway leading to the receiving line. Guests also viewed a tourism video and were serenaded by a saxophone playing Philippine pop music as well as traditional folk songs.

In his national day message, Charge d’Affaires (CDA) Edgar Badajos highlighted some of the milestones in the Philippines’s political and economic history since becoming the first sovereign Republic in Southeast Asia 117 years ago.  After, CDA Badajos invited guests to a ceremonial toast to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and President Benigno S. Aquino III. END
