24 June 2015 - The Filipino community in Surabaya, Indonesia organized a gathering called “Barrio Fiesta in Surabaya” in celebration of the 117^th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence. Philippine Consul Shirlene Mananquil and Philippine Honorary Consul Eddy Surohadi attended the event.  Consul Mananquil delivered a short message in line with the theme “Tagumpay sa Pagbabagong Nasimulan, Abot Kamay na ng Bayan.”

The event featured a mini concert which included performances of Tagalog songs and a group dance; games and other exciting activities. The Philippine Embassy also took the opportunity to conduct overseas voters registration.

Around 150 Filipinos and a few Indonesians attended the event held at Fave Hotel Surabaya. Mr. Ed Fuentes, leader of the Filipino community in Surabaya led the program. END
