26 June 2015 - The Philippine Consulate General in Agana joined the Filipino Community of Guam (FCG) in celebrating the “Pista sa Nayon,” the culminating event of the month-long celebration of the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence which was held on June 21 at the Governor Joseph Flores Beach Park (Ypao Beach) in Guam.

The fiesta attracted hundreds of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans who came to enjoy and celebrate Philippine culture and traditions in Guam. It was attended by the officers and members of different Filipino organizations in Guam, the officers and staff of the Philippine Consulate General, as well as their family members and friends.

Celebrity performers Miss Universe-Philippines 2013 Ariella Arida and Miss Universe-Philippines 2010 Venus Raj entertained the festival-goers. The event also highlighted different cultural performances, including OPM and Filipino religious songs sung by the Magis Choir, Ms. Agatha de Borja, daughter of Consul General de Borja, mother and son duo, and Filipino folk songs played on the accordion by Fe Caraig. The students of Filipino taekwondo master Noel Caluag also showcased their skills in the Korean martial art. Various member organizations of the FCG, namely the Aklan Association, the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology Alumni Association, Iloilo International and the Capiz Association, also put up creatively decorated booths where they exhibited their native delicacies and other Filipino products.

The Consulate General set up a table at the event to promote tourism and overseas voters registration. END
