26 June 2015 - The Philippine Embassy in Vienna hosted a reception for the diplomatic corps, UN and Sutrian government officials, business community and Filipino community leaders to celebrate the 117th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence on June 17 in Marriot Hotel.

In her remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Austria Maria Zeneida Angara Collinson highlighted the significant strides that the Philippine government has achieved under the reform and good governance regime of the Aquino administration, inviting businesses to take advantage of the opportunities arising from the favorable economic situation in the country. She vowed to promote bilateral relations with Austria during her tour of duty, stating, “Our strong and historic ties since the 16th century and our shared values provide a solid platform for deeper and wider engagement in the political, economic and social spheres.”

Guests, led by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Archbishop Dr. Peter Zubriggen, partook of sumptuous dishes including chicken adobo served with garlic rice and Don Papa rhum.

Apart from Filipino cuisine and music, the official video for Visit the Philippines Year 2015 was shown to promote tourism and the country’s rich cultural heritage. END
