PH Embassy in Manama Commemorates the 127^th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal

MANAMA 03 January 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Manama and Sentro Rizal Manama, in cooperation with the Knights of Rizal - Bahrain Chapter, joined the Filipino nation in commemorating the 127^th anniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose P. Rizal through a wreath-laying ceremony and program on 30 December 2023, at the Philippine Embassy Sentro Rizal.

This year’s commemorative activity included the participation of the Philippine School Bahrain (PSB) Chorale Ensemble and PSB Theater Club. The PSB Chorale Ensemble led the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and performed a song “Canto Patriotico de Maria Clara” and a poem, while the PSB Theater Club performed a play of  Mi Ultimo Adios.

In his keynote message, Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Bryan Jess Baguio conveyed appreciation of the Embassy to the Knights of Rizal Bahrain Chapter and Philippine School Bahrain for their cooperation in marking the 127^thanniversary of the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal. CDA Baguio also highlighted the importance of marking the occasion in giving more meaning to the martyrdom of Dr. Jose Rizal.

At the end of the program, the Philippine Embassy conducted an onsite live viewing at the Sentro Rizal of the historical drama fantasy series "Maria Clara at Ibarra", a production of GMA Network based on the Rizal’s novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo Sentro Rizal. END
