30 October 2015 - As part of the efforts to promote the Philippines in Argentina, Philippine Ambassador Ma. Amelita C. Aquino visited the province of Santa Fe on October 22. It is one of the most important provinces of Argentina for its agriculture, livestock, and industrial productivity.
She visited the port municipality of Puerto General San Martin where cargo ships manned mostly by Filipino seafarers regularly dock. During her call on Mayor Carlos de Grandis, she was declared Distinguished Visitor of the municipality.
Ambassador Aquino also visited the city of Rosario, an important agro-industrial corridor of the province, and the third most populous city of Argentina. She had meetings with officials of the Rosario Stock Exchange led by its President, Raul Merai and businessmen. During these meetings, she highlighted the good economic performance of the Philippines and presented the country as an ideal gateway of Argentina to Southeast Asia.
Ambassador Aquino also took the opportunity to meet with journalists of Rosario to inform them about the Philippines and its relations with Argentina. She also gave a presentation on the Philippines before students of the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo del Litoral. END
